Offsite or Onsite Bookkeeping Service

If you don't feel your business is large enough to employ a permanent bookkeeper or you're just too busy to do it yourself, why not consider outsourcing your bookkeeping and have it done regularly for a fraction of the cost of employing a permanant or casual staff member, or to give you more time to devote to your business... to what you do best to make money.

With our service you don't pay for time spend on MSN or facebook as you do with permanent staff! Nor do you pay while we sit around on the phone to friends and family. In Fact... you only pay for the amount of work completed, and even better, we don't stretch out the time with imaginery work designed to justify a large bookkeeping bill. Believe it or not, we actually look for ways to minimise the time spent and only do as much as what is needed to achieve your requirements, whether it be just preparing your basic BAS and tax information for your accountant, to preparing detailed P & L, creditor and debtors and reconcilliation reports.

With so much knowledge of bookkeeping for small businesses, we are comfortable to offer you the choice of a set monthly fee to have your bookkeeping completed. This fee will depend on both the size of your business and the depth of reporting you require from your MYOB software but rates generally range between $200 - $400 per month for most small businesses. Alternatively, for casual assistance refer to our pricing page for an hourly rate option.

Assistance with existing Bookkeeping work

If you have a permanent staff member undertaking your bookkeeping, or you've chosen to do the majority of work yourself, unless you are an MYOB consultant AND an accountant you likely don't know everything you need to really finalise your bookkeeping for your accountant and for tax requirements.

There are also the issue of whether the work is being done correctly... This is a difficult situation if you have someone completing the work for you, as you are at their mercy if they tell you that it is correct! But really, if you're a plumber, own a shop, are an architect or a solicitor in your day job... how would you really know?

MYOB Mistakes

Mistakes in bookkeeping can be very costly, here are a few examples of clients dilemmas that I have fixed over the years:

  • A shopfitting company in Wetherill Park NSW had an office manager with 10 years experience doing the MYOB work daily. The workers compensation bill was a touch over $110,000 per year but because the policy document didn't clearly show GST included on the front page, nothing was claimed back.... to the tune of $10,000 for every year since 2000 when GST was implemented!

  • A freight company in Ingleburn employed an apparently experienced accounts person who was with them for 18 months. Through laziness and lack of knowledge, she failed to lodge 18 months worth of BAS & IAS statements to the ATO. When this was finally done, the liability totalled over $220,000. The company went into liquidiation not long after and the owners lost everything. Unfortunately, I was called in way too late for them to avoid their detriment!

  • A construction company in Broadbeach employed a part time bookkeeper who claimed they knew MYOB. After some months I was called in to complete some training in MYOB and whilst doing that discovered that $11,000 worth of sales had been incorrectly applied as paid. When this was corrected, the money was unrecoverable from the company even with the assistance of the union.

  • A property developer in Surfers Paradise didn't realise a company in their group could claim back the GST paid on progress payments made to the building company, this amounted to $226,000 which the ATO promptly paid once an adjusting BAS was lodged. Can you bet who became their new best friend?

  • A group of companies, of which I had assisted with payroll in one company, called me in to investigate suspicious activities in accounts of other companies in their group. Over the course of many months it was discovered the company accountant had defrauded the group of over $1.6m. Additionally, an office manager, a sales manager AND an office assistant (yes three more people) were all found to have defrauded another company in the group of just under $210,000 collectively.

  • Numerous businesses have allowed their superannuation in MYOB to calculate on allowances and overtime costing thousands of dollars in overpayments of super per year as they haven't known how to tick the boxes in MYOB to stop this happening..

  • Numerous companies have failed to claim back GST from the ATO as their MYOB software has not been setup correctly from the start, with tax codes defaulting to N-T (No Tax) rather than GST and this has not been picked up until an MYOB specialist is called in, this happens ALL the time and costs companies anywhere from a few dollars to many, many thousands of dollars.

Many ongoing clients require some onsite or offsite assistance for only a couple of hours each quarter to keep their accounts in check, and to give them peace of mind that their records are accurate. Most of my clients spend less than $1000 per year on my services but nearly all of them have benefited many times that in my initial advice and ongoing maintenance.
